While staying in Split, I took a ferry ride to the island of Hvar, which is known to be one of the most famous spots in Croatia. You can reach 6 major inhabited islands directly by regular ferry or catamaran from the port of Split. I chose Hvar because of the distance (1 hour away) and I was told it’s the best island to visit.

When you’re dropped off at the port, you can easily walk to St Stephen’s Square and the Franciscan Monastery cove in the old town, and climb to Španjola Fortress for the great views.

After spending a good amount of time walking around taking in the sights, I stopped at one of the restaurants and had a really good pasta dish. I then boarded the ferry and headed back to complete my stay in Split.
